Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is a small island group in southern pacific and part of French Polynesia which has Tahiti as the main island. On our way to the island we could see the landscape from the plane and it was unbelievable.

From San Diego there are multiple ways to reach this place. One way is to fly from Los Angeles to Tahiti and then to Bora Bora. Since we used points/miles, we flew from San Diego to Honolulu and then to Tahiti. From Tahiti it is an hour flight to Bora Bora. The water near the airport highlights what is in store. Azure waters, almost cream like, welcome you.

The magical lagoon with stunning light blue/Turquoise water, a tall mountain rising on the background, palm trees lines up and a gentle breeze keeping us cool. Bora Bora was a bucket list destination for us and once there we realized if there is a heaven on earth, this is it.The island hugs you and makes you forget everything including yourself!. The water color and the expanse is unlike anywhere else on earth.

We stayed there for 5 nights at Hilton Bora Bora Nui resort (a wonderful resort). For more details refer : Hilton Bora Bora

Apart from the resort activities, we also visited the main island port : Vaitape, multiple times for groceries and lunch/dinner.

Mt Otemanu towering over the island presents an idealistic landscape we all expect of a tropical paradise.

The water is super shallow and clear and you can swim/relax all day.

From all our trips so far to any tropical beaches/locations (we have been to Caribbean, Yucatan and Hawaii too) nothing comes close to Bora Bora for sheer beauty and secluded feeling. It is expensive (especially if you don't use any miles/points) but if you want to take a trip of your life time, this would it.
