We spent 3 days in Germany. We stayed in Munich for 2 nights (at Hilton Munich Park). We went around Munich one day and the next day, took a full day tour to Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles in Bavarian alps region. We also rented a car from Salzburg and drove to Konigssee (Germany) while in Salzburg (Austria). Bavarian alps (Bavaria is the name of the region) is very scenic and differs from Swiss alps in both the topography and access. Car is the best way to explore Bavaria while trains are preferred in Swiss (Switzerland) alps. Bavarian alps are not as high and snow-ladden as Swiss counterparts but are much more lush/green.
