Grindelwald, Switzerland

The first 2 days of our stay at Switzerland were spent at Grindelwald. Grindelwald is around 3 hours from Zurich airport. On arrival at the airport, we bought 2 Swiss passes which was good for 8 days. You can also get 1 day, 5 day and 15 day passes. All the train travel (expect to Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfrajauch) were free.So were all the busses within cities like Interlaken, Bern and Geneva along with any boat rides on numerous lakes. Swiss Pass also offers half prices and discounts to other major attractions of Switzerland.

Grindelwald is the starting point to visit Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfrajauch. The day of arrival was very clear and sunny so we took the afternoon train to Kleine Scheidegg to get a clear view of Mt Eiger, Mt Monch and Mt Jungfrauh. We could also spot the last stop of tour to top of the Europe Jungfrajauch. The journey to top of the Europe is not to be missed and is best part of the trip!

The next day we strolled around the beautiful Grindelwald bound by snowy swiss alps and surrounded by grassy hills and wildflowers. The walk around town was very scenic and fulfilling.

One of the best play areas in the world, overlooking the Swiss Alps.

We stayed at The Derby Hotel Grindelwald which was right in front of the train station. An excellent hotel with great breakfast and ideally located right next to the Grindelwald station. It had beautiful views of the mighty wetterhorn mountain and grassy hills with wildflowers.

On our train from Interlaken to Grindelwald, we stumbled upon a railway station named Schwendi which had beautiful views of wild flowers, streams and mountains. It is like the switzerland we have always imagined! Lots of beautiful swiss cows were grazing nearby making the landscape idyllic!
