SUMMARY :

One of the most beautiful places on earth, Bora Bora is a dream destination for many. Since it is super expensive, we wanted to visit it without busting our pockets. This inspired us to dip our toes in the miles game! We wanted to stay in an overwater Bungalow. Back in 2014, when we went to Bora Bora, Hilton had an amazing way to redeem points called AXON award. 1,60,000 Hhonors points (which we got Amex and Citi cards) fetched us 4 nights at the Hilton Bora Bora. We got another night from Citi Reserve card. Due to our Hilton Gold status (acquired from Citi hilton Reserve card) we got upgraded to Overwater Bungalow at no cost for first 3 nights! Other 2 nights, we stayed on the hilltop bungalows with amazing views. Overwater Bungalows were going for upwards of 800US$ a night! Breakfast was also free. While we got flights to and back from Hawaii for free, we still had to pay flight charges from Hawaii to Bora Bora and back. We used the 2 night stopover at Hawaii to explore the beautiful island of Oahu. We stayed at Hyatt place Waikiki brach for free. Despite some out of pocket expenses, we saved a ton of money by not spending a single penny on our hotel stays and paying reduced amount for air travel. This huge saving inspired us even more to earn free miles and points and explore the world on our terms! For more information on our above trip refer http://travelasfamily.com/BoraBora
