Tioga Pass and Yosemite National Park

Tioga Pass

We entered Yosemite from US395/Lee Vining canyon through the Tioga pass (9943 feet above sea level). It was the opening day for the pass and there was snow everywhere.

Ellery lake was semi-frozen and beautiful.

Tenaya lake was just as good with dome like mountains holding the lake. Toloumne meadows still had some snow cover. If you are visiting Yosemite, make sure to visit Tioga Pass area as we feel it is one of the highlights of the Park.

Yosemite National Park

Perhaps the most famous and the most visited national park in U.S ; Yosemite Valley with waterfalls thundering down from the sorrouding mountains and natural granite domes makes for a surreal scene.

We visited this beautiful landscape in 2011 which was a banner snow year for california (before the big drought took over). So the falls were stunning with massive flows!

The next day, we explored the valley.

Bridal veil falls was bright and had so much water/spray that it was hard to see!

Yosemite falls (the tallest falls in U.S.A) is infact two falls: Upper and lower cascading down the towering granite domes for hundreds of feet.

The last hike was to Mirror lake which offers stunning reflections of the Halfdome and the sorrounding mountains

We also hiked to Vernal falls which was stunning.
